Following a recent update to the France Météo site I was forced to upgrade the parsing logic that underpins the web app implementation that I have.
In the process I decided to incorporate a few new features and leverage a lot of new data that is now available from the Météo service.
The changes
- Sun/moon rise set information is now available at the top of the screen and will appear to the left of any weather warnings for the area.
- The intra-day forecasting intervals have been shortened to 3hrs (from 6hrs) and have more descriptive titles regarding their validity periods. This gives users a better idea when they need to move their garden furniture inside before the storm hits ;)
- New icons and probabilities shown for rain and storm forecasting. This is shown intra-day for short term forecasts and only in summary format for long term.
- I've removed the confidence value as I thought it didn't really help at all. The further away from today the forecast the inherently more inaccurate it is (that's it).
